Sangria Recipe - Makes a pitcher of sangria
Ingredients
3/4 cup (1/3 pint) water
1/2 cup (4 oz) superfine sugar
2 cinnamon sticks, each about 2 inches long
1 bottle red wine (Cabernet variety)
Juice from 2 oranges
Juice from 2 limes
12 slices of orange
Crushed ice
Method
Put the water, sugar and cinnamon sticks into a saucepan and bring to the boil
Keep stirring until you are sure that the sugar has completely dissolved
Remove the pan from the heat, cover and leave for 60 minutes
Add the wine, sugar mixture, orange juice and lime juice to a large pitcher
Add crushed ice to the pitcher and mix well
Serve the sangria in chilled glasses or tumblers with a slice of orange
